Visual Diary D 3 (1975)

School exercise book (‘Roslyn’ brand), cover numbered 3

Arkley archive

This book is not dated on the cover, but its contents presumably date from mid-late 1975, given the artist’s own sequential numbering of his 1975-6 diaries.

Contains approx.54 pages of notes and sketches, mostly geometric sketches, and notes on other artists and music. Various playful doodled figures appear throughout. One page contains notes for a ‘slide idea’, apparently a painting incorporating a sliding panel.

A typical page is reproduced here, showing several compositional drawings related to Untitled [Sprayed and straight lines] (1975?).
